I wish you would have tested a Larue trigger as well.
Just got a used one for cheap - excited to put it through its paces
Bro, a trigger scale is $20 on Amazon...
Bro, my scale works well. Why would I buy a garbage Chinese one from Amazon in my old one is accurate?
Turned out awesome. Gorgeous knife. Gave me the confidence to do that scarey tang peening. Thanks for the upload!
Great, Thank you
Take a grinder and open up the seams where it didn't weld fire up the forge.Apply flux before the billet gets too hot when it turns a red set your weld then re flux. Bring it up to forge welding temp tap tap re flux you'll know real quick if it takes or not.I had an old billet i tried this method an it worked.
I've done that... sometimes it helps sometimes it doesn't. 🤷
Thanks for the video. I have a mil spec with the JP light spring but am interested in the two stage for long range. I thought you were going to weigh a large mouth with that scale.
Hi I'm north of buffalo ny , did you sell the anvil. Thanks Tom Wilkinson
Yes
*Garbage* *I'd be amazed if it was still in one piece*
I cut through deer sternum with it all the time. It's also one of the primary knives I use to butcher. Flawed as it may be it's turned out to be an amazing knife. If it's not your cup of tea no problem mate.
Nice job man. Nice job. Love that handle.
Hopefully michigan doesnt get as anti gun as NY !
Im Here inside the glove like a baseball too that's why you have to by now because the Whitmore lady isn't playing
Thanks for the video. Hopefully you got out of New York by now!
I did. Moved to Pennsylvania.
@WJBlades that's awesome!

Any teeth left on blade? That’s crazy amount of time. There has to be a better blade to get you more speed.
That blade lasted quite a while.
Appreciate it.
⭕️same surgery... only it looks like they did a better job on yours....
I haven’t been making Damascus for a long time, but everyone I have talked too about Damascus says to just lightly tap it to set the welds. If you start really pounding on it in the beginning it will weld right where you hit, but the rest will pop open. I have found this to be true. Also I like to use 2-3 heats of setting the weld to just to be sure. The final piece of advice I have been given was to “flux the heck out of it, bordering on wasting it” Hope this was helpful
All of that is good advice.
If you get light primer strikes with the Geisseles it’s not going to be because of the pull weight. The pull weight measures the trigger spring, not the (separate) hammer spring, and the hammer spring is what dictates the force of the hammer hitting the primer.
A few factors go into light strikes, mostly hammer spring power. I think we agree there. I disagree that hammer springs don't affect pull weight. They absolutely do.
Dope AF knife, @WJBlades! Now you've gotta stitch up an equally dope sheath for it!
Dope AF results, @WJBlades! Now it needs an equally dope sheath/scabbard to complete the package!
Thank you for the video brother
You're welcome it's been awhile since I've made a video and UA-cam has completely demonetized my channel. So your thanks is probably the only payment I'm going to get lol.
Интересное видео.Кузница нод старину прекрасно,так как я люблю большинство всё самодельное👍
Singe stage triggers generally will have less travel than 2 stage. This is because a good single stage has no pre travel and is already at the wall. Really good triggers in general should have basically no overtravel meaning single stage will have almost no travel at all and 2 stage triggers will just have the takeup (1st stage) travel.
Sadly, I've learned that that character flaw, impatience, can still goof up damascus billets when I'm using my press. Glad you got the 5160 figured out!
loved the video! i am really interested in demo's from Gary Hinman. I cannot find any info on facebook or the internet. I would love to see him working in his shop. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the video,Don’t worry about the tax it’s only money. Have a great New Year.
I enjoyed your video. Like you I was all hand forging until I made a forging press. I made mine for around $1000 and it has been a game changer. I have a how to video on how to make one on my channel if you are interested.
Awesome build brother first time seeing your videos awesome work brother
Love the handle

It scares me that UA-cam can read my mind! Lol. I was looking through my scrap box and thinking....only thinking about this exact thing and boom...there you are doing a video on it! I know it was just the luck of the algorithm...but it's fun to joke about it. Just found your channel today and I'm subscribed now. Great channel!
What did you have to do to get the drive wheel adapted to the motor?
The Arbor on the motor was already a match for the drive pulley they sent with the unit.
I think I'll order one this week. Thanks for the info
Nice one man! Great tutorial on how to fix delams. Thanks! So how many btu does your burners kick out?? Just curious. I have a propane forge I built a few years ago, but also have a coke forge as well..
Any number I give you would be just a guess. Thanks for watching and commenting maybe I'll feel well enough soon to go back at it.
Okay about the taxes ... don't blame PSA. That's New York's tax laws. Also, if you're a business you should have a government issued business tax certificate that precludes you from paying taxes on resale items. Item number 2; the PSA two stage trigger and it's reset. Rifles are not pistols and rifle 2 stage triggers historically want that distance for safety purposes. Mausers, Springfields, Enfields Garands and such two stage triggers were designed with safety and accurate fire in mind. The reset on the PSA trigger is not excessive and on a positive note will not lead to an accidental double tap. 2 Stage triggers these days are meant for precision shooting not combat and for about $80 there is little to complain about. It all depends on what you think you're going to use it for. In all honesty if you want a great upgrade to a stock AR trigger Brownell's carries one called an ATC trigger. Single stage nickle boron really smooth and it use to be about $60 should you want something for the Zombie hoards.
Okay about the taxes... I 💯 blame PSA. I had all of my licensing as a Tax exempt NY reseller. It had nothing to do with "New York's tax laws" I called and emailed PSA many times. They just gave me the run around. At that time they also would not ship legal firearms to New York FFLs when it was obviously legal to do so. I have since moved and acquired all my PA licensing. Not all freedom loving NY residents are capable of getting out. Some hope to stay and make a difference from within. So, respectfully, you have no idea what you're talkin about. As to the trigger reset: it was not a good real world test. Without the safety selector in the numbers are only valuable in side by side comparison. Onto trigger quality over time: after some modification the PSA two stage trigger ended up being my overall favorite for price/performance.
@@WJBlades I apologize about the tax comment but you didn't mention that you talked to PSA until you were blue in the face. I've never dealt with them on a large scale basis. However, I have dealt with Brownell's and never had an issue with them regarding taxing. Regarding NYS. I made the mistake of buying my retirement property outside of Binghamton. It is in Marcellus shale territory. I surprised to find that out. We came close to a natural gas lease that would have netted a few million dollars and with the swipe of a pen by a guy named Cuomo a moratorium went into effect and my property is worth a fraction of what it was. SO REGARDING NYS ... I can say what I would without getting banned on this site. Should have bought in PA but that's hind sight. God Bless
@@WJBladeswhat modifications? I'm looking between the Schmid (PSA/most companies 2-stage) and the larue mbt2. If the modifications are easy I may go Schmid. This was by far the best trigger video I've ever seen on ars. I'm going to check out the channel thanks!
Sei bravo io lo avrei fatto più grande la lama il manico è bello
Yes, I like the ...pre vise grip
Can you make one for me i m your subscriber
I haven't had time to make anything lately. If I do, I put the up for sale on my Facebook page. "Soul Warrior Gun Works"
Hey there Forge Friend……your Vid maybe from 4yr ago, but…..I feel ya buddy! 7 times I tried in between sticking with what I know thinking that I’ll get it this time. So I tried a good size spring, like trampoline type….and hammered 4mm spring steel round rod to capacity and with a bucket of Borax……ended with a very satisfying compromising blade that over time, have had many comments about the “Zebra” type pattern. No re-stacking necessary for this one…….just clean, fill, heat, sprinkle as required, with copious amounts of hammer blows (as you well know), and your soon to be knife will….sorry…but….Spring into action💪🏼. Keep it up, and keep it in my friend👍🏼.
I'm currently working on getting my forging set up backup at my new home. Life is a little crazy so not so many new videos at the moment. Thank you for your comment and encouragement.
@@WJBlades Your welcome, and all I can wish for you is TIME. It just seems to be the hardest thing to obtain, as life goes on! Cheers from Oz👍🏼
I would love to try this out but money matters, this pain has even driven me crazy
great job, you are an artist , love from Iran
One question how do u take a straight drill bit drill a hole then put curved tang thru it
The hole isn't straight. It's two holes that meet in the middle and then they are shaped a bit more with small files. Also some grinding on the tang to get the perfect fit.
I understand ! Exploring Nevro. Thanks.
We share the same experimental attitudes! Great info.
Thanks.
next time use proper tongs? or weld on a handle?
I think welding on a handle would've been best.
That psa stock gi I have tons of thrm put one in a play ar and came out at 4.5 lbs I was very surprised and smooth I run all geissele and cmc trigger but that psa is not bad
The reason for a 4.5 lb trigger is for shooting competition. You can't have under a 4.5 lb trigger at cmp matches and other long range rifle events with the military. The less expensive trigger can be made lighter with polishing and spring changes
